Nominated for the 2014 Easy Weddings – Wedding of the Year Competition, Shannon & Chelsea held their wedding yesterday on a property in Margaret River and invited us as their wedding photographers.
Upon arriving at the Margaret River property we were blown away by how amazing the decorations were. Chelsea had chosen a rustic theme for her wedding décor and had gone to great lengths to make sure that every detail was perfect. We are firm believers that it’s the details that really make a wedding special and the property looked unbelievable.
The Margaret River property was perfectly suited to have both the ceremony and reception at the one location. It was also were we met with Chelsea in the morning as she was helped to get ready with her bridesmaids. From the second story window we could see all the guests arriving which helped build the anticipation. Then when it was time, Chelsea made her way down a short path to where Shannon was waiting patiently under the shade of some peppermint trees.
Shannon & Chelsea decided to have what is called an Unplugged Wedding. This is where a bride and groom ask their guests to refrain from taking photos during their ceremony and allow professional photographers to document their ceremony for them. The reason for this is to allow their guests to experience the ceremony first hand instead of being separated from it by an LCD screen. There is lots of other reasons why unplugged weddings are becoming more popular which include brides walking down the aisle expecting to see a sea of smiling faces but instead seeing rows of cameras, phones and even massive iPads! Of course unplugged weddings also make our job as wedding photographers easier because we don’t have to compete for prime positions or have camera flashes interfering with the natural light.
Straight after the ceremony we took the bridal party for a walk around the property where everyone enjoyed playing up for the camera and having fun. When it was time for Shannon and Chelsea to have their photos alone it didn’t take Shannon much coaxing as he couldn’t keep his hands off Chelsea.
Back at the reception Chelsea had organised an area for a make shift photobooth with a backdrop and props. We set some lights up and all the guests had a great time as we took some high quality photobooth photos. We left the newlyweds to dance and party the night away. Congratulations Shannon & Chelsea on an amazing wedding day!
